Why do Moonies still believe in Rev. Moon?

A question i found on the internet:

Why do Moonies still believe in Rev. Moon?

This person states that the Unification Church abused its members terribly and that Mr. Moon was an adulterer. He wonders why the Unification Church is still existing today when their 'perfect Messiah' is a sex offender.

Answer

When you now look at Rev. Moon and his movement you cannot but conclude that things have gotten very bad. But it hasn't always been that way.

Rev. Moon had an important mission. Although he has made countless mistakes since the earliest beginning of his task, he was also willing to invest much for a better world. This is why he could get many revelations with truth in it. But these revelations or inspirations also contain much misunderstanding and many falsities.

Gradually Rev. Moon has fallen more and more. He became arrogant and instead of restoring the mistakes of his earlier life, he began to repeat them. Over time, he has become more and more external. While in the beginning he emphasized each person's individual relationship to God, later he wanted people to bow down for him and accept him as their messiah and king. At that stage of his life he also started more external movements such as his Universal Peace Federation and his work with scientists and politicians.

This is not how God works to restore man and i am certain that in these days he is not anymore a man of God.

Why does the church still exist?
This is the same question as to ask why evil still exists. It is people's own responsibility to find out what is true and good. As long as so many people are being fooled by Rev. Moon, the Unification Church will continue. I am certain that at this moment they are not anymore supported by God but by forces of evil. Yet this also doesn't mean that God would have abandoned the individual people who follow Moon or that anyone still believing in Moon must be considered evil.
