Stanislau Shuskevich spoke in Seoul for a gathering of Unificationists in Seoul, South Korea on June 27, 2009. He was introduced by Hyung Jin Moon. The meeting had the form of a religious service.
Shuskevich spoke in support of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his Cheon Jeong Gung Peace Palace.
Hmm, i would have been more interested to hear his story of his role and vision of ending the Soviet Union.

Stanislau Shuskevich is a Belarusian politician and scientist. From September 28, 1991 to January 26, 1994 he was first leader and head of state of independent Belarus after the dissolution of the Soviet Union (Chairman of the Supreme Soviet - also chairman of Parliament). He supported free market and democratic reforms and played a key role in the creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In 1991 he signed a declaration together with Boris Yeltsin of Russia and Leonid Kravchuk of Ukrain that the Soviet Union was dissolved.

Shuskevich withdrew from Belarus the Soviet nuclear arsenal. Later reforms he wanted to initiate became stalled by opposition of a hostile parliament.

In 1994 Shushevich won the first presidential elections held in Belarus.

In 2004 he attempted to participate in parliamentary elections but was refused registration by the electoral commission. He is now heading the Belarusian Social Democratic Assembly political party.
